Rural All Stars top Delta Sport in B.P.F.L. “B”
Good evening, I’m James Adderley and you’re locked into another delivery of Sports Monday. Week four of the B.P.F.L.’s B League saw Rural All Stars host Delta Sport of Corozal at the Sandhill field yesterday.
And it’s the All Stars looking for the early lead when Tyrone Muschamp tries for the near corner against Robel Moreira who makes the save.
At the other end Delta Sport responds with this launch from the set piece, which sails over the crossbar. Back comes the Rural team as Denmark Flores tries to turn on this ball, but the execution remains imperfect.
We’re some twenty minutes in when Steven Smith shows unselfishness in front of the goal and finds Jermaine Zuniga who expertly controls and fires to give the All Stars a 1-zip lead.
Delta looks for the quick reply, but the shot from Wilmer Roaches can only be described as ugly. Still, it’s Delta on the prowl off this spot kick and Luis Ariola makes his team celebrate the goal that ties the ballgame at 1-apiece.
Things heat up people, and off this corner kick Denmark Flowers should have given back the lead to the Stars, but it proves to be a riser. Again, it’s the Stars working for the lead, but Steven Smith hits the side of the net and at the half it’s a 1-1 ballgame.
Meanwhile, it may be hazardous to referee in the B league as Manuel Pelayo becomes the victim of a vicious hit and run in early second half–and the league certainly must do something about Salvador Armando who seems to be acting like a mad man.
Nevertheless, it’s back to the action, but we must tell Jermaine Zuniga he waited too long to be effective.
Folks, we know it’s the B League, but at this range and with this number of opportunities the All Stars should have gotten a goal to show, but they come away empty.
Of course the numerical advantage keeps the Rural offence going and it’s just a case of mis-connection on this press. Will the All Stars score of the push, well Joseph Morales has not the touch to get the job done, but here comes the game winner. Terrence Madril gets a head on this centre as Rural All Stars win 2-1.
In other results from around the league, Corozal Southwest Strikers edged Lazio 3-2, Caye Caulker and Youth for the Future battled to a 1-all draw, Lake United blanked A.C. Milan 3-nil, while the A.F. Club and Hattieville Sporting Club battled to a 3-3 draw.
Turning to the horseracing scene, the Boxing Day card at Burrell Boom proved to be a monster and we want to take you to the finish of the D Class five-furlong race in honour of fallen jockey Alvan Bodden Jr. As we head to the homestretch, Justice of Palas Joseph/Marshalleck stables is in the lead and beats the field easily, forcing Blue Magic into second, Shadow into third, while More Fire finished fourth.
Now here’s a look at the finish for the Old Masters Breeders Cup mile. As we head home the whips are out, Pacesetter presses on the outside, the challenge comes from Alize, but Pacesetter holds on by half a length while Jamie’s Pal pulls up third. It’s a big win for the mighty Pacesetter.
That’s our show for today, but before we go I’ll take this opportunity to say Happy New Year to Miss Helen my mom. We invite you back same time, same place, next week. Jah over all! I’m James Adderley.
