Tourists held up at jungle resort
It was not reported on any police press release, but more than a week after a major hold-up and robbery at Jaguar Paw Resort on December twenty-first, News 5 was today informed about the drama via an email from one of the victims. Belmopan police have confirmed that around three-thirty that evening, three armed masked men entered the establishment and held up a group of six tourists and the resort’s co-owner, Carol Young. According to authorities, the culprits stole from the Americans cash totalling over one thousand dollars plus jewellery. The men then accosted Young and relieved her of an additional five thousand dollars in Belizean and U.S. currency. Although Belmopan police do not have any suspects, they strongly believe the robbers had prior contact with the resort and that is why they appeared to be familiar with the building’s layout.
