Brazen robber jacks Novelos bank deposit

Belize city police are still trying to identify the robber who held up two employees of the Novelos Bus Line as they were stuck in a traffic jam sometime after ten this morning. Reports are that the company’s senior cashier, thirty-one year old Lewis Robinson and an office assistant, were on their way to the bank to deposit Sunday sales but as they left the terminal and passed by Malic’s on East Collet Canal, the traffic came to a halt and they were forced to stop behind along line of vehicles. Police say Robinson told them that is when a lone gunman holding what looked like a chrome nine millimetre pistol approached their vehicle and demanded money. Robinson says that he started to struggle with the assailant, but the man knocked him in the head with the weapon, grabbed the moneybag containing an undisclosed amount of cash and ran away. Police do not as yet have any suspects.
