Two charged in fatal O.W. crash
A tragic accident on Wednesday morning that killed a young Orange Walk man has resulted in charges being filed against the two drivers involved in the incident. After a second day of investigation by police, twenty-one year old Francisco Sabido, driver of the Saturn that hit a white Honda Accord on the Northern Highway, has been charged with manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, driving without due care and attention, and driving with alcohol content above the prescribed limit. Eighteen year old Obed Dominguez, driver of the Honda, has been charged with driving with alcohol content above the prescribed limit, driving without due care and attention, and driving without a valid driver’s permit. A group of eight friends, who had been drinking heavily, took to the road around three-thirty Wednesday morning. The two cars, which had been passing each other, collided and ran off the road. Contrary to initial police reports, it has now been concluded that it was the Saturn that was trying to overtake the Accord when the collision occurred. Nadir Yah, a passenger in the Saturn, received head and body injuries and died on the spot.
