Murder in Belize City – Arrest Made in Death of Clinton Frazer
A murder on Sunday night claimed the life of one brother and has left another injured. The brothers were at the Conch Shell Bay Fish Market when a man opened fire on them – hitting each sibling once. We received conflicting reports of how the murder happened – one account said that two men rode up on bicycles and fired at the brothers and another account said that the gunman arrived on scene in a vehicle. This evening Police informed us that the attack on the brothers was carried out by two men on bikes. They fired several shots – one of which claimed a man’s life. One man has since been charged with murder and attempted murder in connection with this attack. Our reporter, Andrea Polanco, has the details of the City’s most recent killing.
Several shots rang out shortly before nine on Sunday night here in the Conch Shell Bay Area – some neighbors say they heard as many as twenty – and some of those bullets found their targets in brothers forty-four-year-old Clinton Frazer and thirty-three-year-old Michael Frazer. Clinton Frazer wasn’t fortunate enough to escape with his life – a single bullet to the back sent him running for cover – he collapsed here on Ebony Street and succumbed to the injury moments later at the KHMH. His younger brother received only a shot to the foot. The brothers were out here in front of the Conch Shell Bay Market socializing with friends – at least two others – when they were shot. Conflicting reports persist of how the attempt was made on the brothers’ lives. But what we do know now is that at least one man came up and unleashed a hail of bullets on the Frazers. Reports are that the shooter made good his escape in a get-away vehicle. Just a stone’s throw away – Frazer’s friends and family heard the disturbance.
Andrea Polanco
“He was killed not too far from home; did the family hear the shots; anything like that?”

Frazer – a father of four – is described as easy going. His friend says that he wasn’t involved in any criminal activity that would threaten his life. And today they still have no clue as to why someone would want him dead. Frazer would frequent the market – a spot where he and his brother would sometimes make a living.

But less than twenty four hours later, Police have arrested and charged twenty-three-year-old Henry Rudolph Harris for the murder of Clinton Frazer and the attempted murder of Michael Frazer. Earlier today, Police said they are looking at all angles to find out what led to the murder – they are yet to determine if Clinton Frazer was the intended target.
Insp. Fitzroy Yearwood, Media Officer, Belize Police Department
“First, we are trying to establish a motive for the murder because these guys are known to always be in that area socializing when they are not gainfully employed. So, in order for us establish whether or not it is a retaliation, we are definitely looking at it in that angle also. We need to establish the motive and then we can see how the investigation will take its course, nuh?”
Andrea Polanco
“Sir, do you believe Clinton was the intended target; because from what we understand he’s forty-four; a family man?”
Insp. Fitzroy Yearwood
“Well, we are not certain if he was the intended target and we have detained two persons of interest so far. They are being interviewed and we are hoping that the investigators can get something out of them that could bring some sense to this senseless murder.”
Andrea Polanco
“Sir, are you able to say if there was a get-away vehicle; some vehicle that the men jumped into and left?”
Insp. Fitzroy Yearwood
“From our investigators, they believe that a van was parked not too far from where this took place where they may have used to flee the scene.”
