Mr. Nice Guy pageant seeks to raise funds

Story Picture
It was originally scheduled to take place on November twenty-eighth but due to inclement weather the annual Mr. Nice Guy pageant had to be postponed. But keep your fingers crossed as it looks like the weather will hold up long enough for the staff and students of Anglican Cathedral College to go ahead with the show on Friday night. Two weeks ago, News 5’s Jacqueline Woods had the opportunity to meet with some of the participants and tonight has a preview.

The male contestants were chosen after a poll was taken from their female peers on who they believe would best represent the concept of Mister Nice Guy.

Glenroy McDonald, Participant, Mr. Nice Guy Pageant

“My name is Glenroy McDonald representing the class of 2 Wallace.”

Rujan Staine, Participant, Mr. Nice Guy Pageant

“The females should attend because there’s going to be entertainment by males for the ladies only.”

Troy Gabb, Jr., Participant, Mr. Nice Guy Pageant

“It will be a night of excitement, lot of fun. We will be showing off our talent.”

Devon Westby, Participant, Mr. Nice Guy Pageant

“My name is Devon Westby and I would like to invite everyone to come to the Mr. Nice Guy show. It will be a night full of excitement.”

Donovan Graham, Participant, Mr. Nice Guy Pageant

“The money made from this pageant will be used wisely in the benefit from this school.”

That’s right, the students are not having a pageant just for an evening of fun. Each year they hold the event to help raise funds that are used to improve conditions at school.

Paulette Wade, Coordinator, Mr. Nice Guy Pageant

“We are trying to furnish an internet cafĂ©. We already have the building and we want to put computers in there so that after school the students can come and relax and do whatever computer work they need. With the change in technology we have to stay up to date and these kids need access to computers.”

If you would like to assist, you can purchase tickets for the pageant on Friday night at the door. It takes place at seven at Bird’s Isle. Tickets are five dollars.
