Former Murder Accused Charged Over Dropped Gun
A Belize City man was busted by police on Monday while attempting to dispose of a loaded firearm in a property on Curassow Street. Twenty-one-year-old Kadeem Anderson is on remand at the Belize Central Prison tonight after being caught in the act of tossing a point thirty-eight Smith and Wesson revolver. The handgun, loaded with six live rounds of Aguila brand ammunition, was later recovered by officers on bicycle patrol within the area. According to Police Constable Santiago Tun, he observed Anderson riding a bicycle along Curassow Street in his direction. When the young man recognized that he was a police officer, he immediately made an about turn and began riding towards Cemetery Road. He then made another turn and was seen tossing an object across a fence and into the yard. When the police officer caught up with Anderson, he was escorted back to the area where a search of the property yielded a snub nose revolver. Anderson, along with the firearm, was taken into custody and he was subsequently charged. Anderson was freed of a murder charge in 2015, after being held on remand for the murder of Leopold Palacio Junior.
