Unlawful Sex with a Girl of Nine

Eighteen-year-old Erwin Lanza, a laborer of Lord’s Bank, was arrested and charged today after being accused of engaging in a sexual act with a minor.  According to the nine-year-old girl, Lanza had intercourse with her on two separate occasions; first in September of 2016 and then last Tuesday.  Lanza appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Carlon Mendoza where he was read two criminal but indictable offenses.  Lanza was charged with two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under the age of fourteen.  No plea was taken from the accused and he was denied bail, before being remanded to the Belize Central Prison until March fifteenth.
