Two more guns off the street
And finally in crime news, police have taken two more deadly weapons out of circulation. A search of the home of fifty-five year old boxing instructor David Dakers on Tuesday evening yielded a point three-eighty automatic pistol along with six live rounds. On Wednesday morning a similar operation at the home of forty-seven year old Phyllis Beeks ended with the same result, except for a smaller amount of ammunition. Police have charged both Dakers and Beeks with the crime of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. A similar charge has been brought against Lloydia and Goldburn Beeks, who were at Phyllis’s home at the time of the search. In related news, the national head of the Criminal Investigations Branch, Senior Superintendent Ewart Wade, today reported a seven percent decrease in major crimes thus far this year. Wade’s report was presented at a conference involving commanders and deputy commanders of the department held at the Police Training Academy in Belmopan.
