Safety toolkit and song launched

A regional occupational safety program got a boost today with the launch of an original song composed by Andy Palacio and performed by Supa G in English, Spanish, and Garifuna. A set of guidelines, called a toolkit, for garment factory owners to evaluate the cost benefits of investing in occupational safety and health was also launched. The project’s objective is to reduce the number of accidents and illnesses related to work and is supported by the Regional Centre for Occupational Safety and Health, CERSSO. According to CERSSO, the majority of companies in the region do not know how to design or implement an occupational safety and health program in their facilities. Included in the items launched today was a methodology for workers and supporting training materials.
