Hopkins church awaits end of village
Strange as it may sound, reports reaching News 5 are that a group of people have barricaded themselves inside their Mennonite church in Hopkins Village tonight. According to village sources, a new convert–a young woman–claims that God has been using her body to convey messages and has told her to warn the villagers that Hopkins will be destroyed within the next several days by fires and earthquakes. The first cataclysmic event was to have taken place this evening, but word out of Hopkins is that nothing out of the ordinary has happened so far. Today people were seen carrying bedding, food, and supplies into the building, and this evening they locked the front doors. The group inside is being led by Pastor Edwin Castillo, also known as Herdy. However, eight to ten church elders do not believe this is a “Biblical occurrence” and have refused to join the group. They are holding an emergency meeting tonight and are concerned about possible violence since there are reports that some of the villagers have been vandalizing the church building and breaking windows.
