Gurkha court martial to resume
The court martial of three British Gurkha soldiers at the George Price Centre was halted last week due to jury contamination, but it appears a new jury may indeed be in place as early as Monday. Army Court Officer Lt. Colonel Jim Bond told News 5 that he is hopeful everything will be in place on Monday and that the prosecution will be able to open its case and present the first witness. The Gurkhas are facing charges of “violent disorder” in connection with a brawl at Raul’s Rose Garden in May of 2001. Fourteen-year-old David Zabaneh was severely beaten during the incident and died of his injuries the next day. The court martial is open to the public and starts at ten a.m., but seating is limited so get there early.
