Inmate found dead in jail cell
We normally don’t report on suicides… but one such case caught our attention because it happened behind prison walls and it involves a mentally challenged inmate. The prisoner at the Central Prison reportedly took his life late Monday evening. Sometime around six-forty-seven p.m., a prison officer on routine check of cells discovered the lifeless body of twenty-seven year old Javier Teck. Teck was found hanging from the bar of a window. According to management at the Kolbe Foundation, Teck was believed to be heartbroken after another inmate was released earlier on Monday. Officer in Charge of the Hattieville Police, Sergeant Peter Serano, says that Teck’s death is under investigation.

“Okay, I know you’re saying apparent suicide, but what has your investigation proven so far?”
Sgt. Peter Serano
“As we speak, the matter is presently under investigation. We went to the prison where we saw a male person in a cell with a sheet tied around his neck.”
A post mortem examination is scheduled for Wednesday. Teck was serving a five year sentence for four counts of Aggravated Assault, Harm and Damage to Property.
