2 Charged in Connection with the Assault of a Belize City Man
A son of the late George “Junie Balls” McKenzie Senior was before the court today where he was charged jointly with well-known figure, Henry Gillett, aka “Pulu” of Majestic Alley. The duo appeared before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith where Keifer McKenzie was charged with aggravated assault and use of threatening words upon Jaheel Goodger, while Gillett was only charged with using threatening words. It is reported that on Sunday, McKenzie assaulted Goodger with a beer bottle and also threatened his life. As it relates to bail, because of a slew of previous offenses, Pulu was remanded, while Mckenzie was granted bail of five hundred dollars. Goodger told police that he was walking on Handyside Street along with his girlfriend and step daughters when three men playing football at the Saint Mary’s School yard, accosted and threatened him.
He made the report to the police in fear of his life. Outside the courtroom this morning, McKenzie’s mother, who just last year lost another son to gun violence, claims a young man recently went to Majestic Alley to interfere with her Keifer, but was put out of area. She says that she has been getting threats by text and has been shot at since the death of her son. Both Gillett and McKenzie are due back in court on May fifteenth, 2017.
