Police Make Arrest in Ernesto Wiltshire Murder
Police in Belmopan have arrested and charged eighteen-year-old Shemar Santos of Teakettle village, Cayo District for the murder of fellow villager, seventeen-year-old Ernesto “Jun” Wiltshire. Official details reveal that Ernesto’s mother reported to police that her son had gone swimming with two male friends in the Belize River around nine-thirty Tuesday morning and did not return home. Ernesto’s body was found around one in the afternoon on Friday by a search party organized by his family in an area located about a mile behind the village on the Arizona Road. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition and showed a large chop wound behind the head. Official cause of death is traumatic brain injury as a result of multiple chop wounds. The Wiltshire family believes that more than one person was involved and that the motive for their son’s death is jealousy.
