O.W. man robbed and beaten
While the Valley of Peace murderers escaped empty handed, in Orange Walk two thieves befriended a sixty-six year old man, only to rob him at gunpoint. Hilario Howe told police that on Monday morning two men showed up at his house seeking rooms for rent. Howe invited the men into his house and one of them requested a drink of water. When Howe returned with the beverage he was greeted by a sawed off shotgun in his face and ordered to lie face down by one of the men while the other searched the premises collecting gold chains, rings, documents, and cash totalling one thousand, six hundred and fifteen dollars in value. For good measure, Howe was hit in the head with the gun as his assailants made their escape. Police are investigating.
