Bullets terrorise Gale’s Point J.P.

Residents of the usually peaceful community of Gales Point remain shaken after someone opened fire on a village Justice of the Peace. Around two Saturday morning, fifty-six year old Iyonnie Swift Samuels was in bed sleeping when she was awakened by the sound of gunshots. According to family reports, someone had fired six times at Samuels’ two storey wooden house and the J.P. had to take cover in an adjacent room to save her life. Relatives say it is a miracle that Samuels survived because one of the bullets, which passed through the wall of her house, was found in her bed; the half dozen expended shells were recovered outside. When asked why anyone would want to kill Samuels, the family told News 5 they do not know, but the village, which has only one policeman, has been plagued with an increase in criminal activity. As a result, concerned residents have been asking for more security in the area. In the meantime, police say they have detained three persons in connection with the shooting.
