Three arrested for $23,000 in counterfeit cash
Earlier this week we reported on the discovery of a few counterfeit hundred dollar notes, which has been successfully passed to business houses in Belize City and Dangriga. Now it seems that police have found the mother load–along with three suspected counterfeiters. Eighteen-year-old Devin Simmons, nineteen year old Darryl Gideon and eighteen year old Levon Aldana have been arrested and charged with possession of counterfeit currency. They were all riding in a car being driven by Simmons, which was stopped by police around eight-thirty Thursday night. A search of the vehicle yielded a total of two hundred and thirty bogus blue notes and six, fifties. That would be worth a whopping twenty-three thousand, five hundred dollars… if the money was real. Police later searched the homes of the three suspects and confiscated two computers along with CDs and diskettes. Their contents are being investigated.
