Woman found raped, injured, intoxicated at Price Barracks

This morning a woman was found on a football field at the Price Barracks in Ladyville. The report is that she was allegedly raped and heavily intoxicated. The identity of the woman is still not clear but what we do know is that she is from Honduras and purported to be a sex worker. We were able to confirm that she was indeed discovered, fully clothed and on the far football field on the B.D.F. compound sometime between six fifteen and six thirty this morning.  A female soldier was out running and came across the woman who appeared disoriented. It is said that she fell several times and as a result sustained scratches and other injuries to her body. Because she was behaving rather disorderly, the female had to be contained for her own safety and later taken to the camp’s medical personnel for a general observation. The woman, we are told, refused to speak with male officers. And up to this afternoon, the B.D.F. were querying internally how the woman came to be on the B.D.F. property. She was subsequently handed over to the Ladyville Police. We have since learnt that police were able to confirm that the woman is an undocumented sex worker but did not make a report of rape to police. Now, she should have been handed over to the immigration department because she didn’t have any legal documents to be in Belize but we are told that she is still in custody.
