Apartment Goes Down in Flames in Caye Caulker

As Majestic Alley was ablaze, a fire also erupted on Caye Caulker. A wooden and concrete structure went up in flames just after four-thirty p.m.  The fire department was assisted by a bucket brigade in the island formed by the residents. Operations Officer of the National Fire Service Bensiford Matura told News Five that the cause of the blaze is unknown.

“At four-forty five, which is fifteen minutes into the Pinks Alley fire, there was a fire in Caye Caulker a little ways across from the Police Station. It is a two storey structure – wooden first floor and the ground floor is concrete. It is an apartment building and the wooden section of the building got gutted and a part of the cement structure was saved.”

“Any indication as to what caused that fire?”

“No. It is still presently under investigation and we have an officer that we will send out to continue with that.”
