Kills girlfriend, spends night with body

Story Picture
Murders in Belize come in many varieties and under differing circumstances, but the killing that occurred over the long holiday weekend in Belize City still has investigators shaking their heads. News 5’s Jacqueline Woods was on the scene this morning and stayed with the story as it grew stranger over the course of the day.

Police say they are still awaiting post-mortem results to say whether or not Sandra Moss was raped before she was murdered. Moss’s body was found sometime after eight this morning inside the lower flat of a two storey wooden house at number forty-six Cran Street. She was nude and lying faced up across a bed with a single deep stab wound to the upper abdomen. According to Pathologist, Doctor Mario Estradabran, the woman believed to be forty years old was killed late Monday evening.

“According to the signs of decomposition and the rigor mortis, she may have been killed around four…between four to six p.m. yesterday.”

Moss, who did not live at the residence, is believed to have been visiting a friend identified as Osbourne Carr better known as “Bino”. Carr and Moss had apparently been seeing each other for the past two years. On Monday morning, one of Carr’s co-workers, who live next door to where the crime occurred, may have been the only person to hear the sounds of a murder in progress.

Then I hear gyal tell ah, “Osbourne, you see weh you di do, you di cut me up. So I come out back outta my house and tell ah, “When you di come out, out that light fi mi,” and I gone back down dah my pa. When I come back and I gone inna my house I got the feeling that somebody deh round the house. So I call his name, nobody answer. Only Carr knows exactly what transpired inside the locked room with the dead body, but early this morning another co-worker said after Carr called out to him to please unlock the door. When Martin Duran complied with the request, he was in for a shock he will not soon forget.

Martin Duran, Witness

“Police would not say why they believe Moss was stabbed to death, but reports suggest that the murder may have been as a result of jealousy. We also understand that early this morning, Carr confessed to the crime.”

Sometime after eight this morning, the police detained Carr and told us he will be charged for murder. Jacqueline Woods for News 5.
