Roots Expo to be Held in Western Paradise

The Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry is putting off its second annual entrepreneurs’ expo, better known as the Belizean Roots Expo. This year, the expo moves from Burrell Boom to the Western Paradise Village at the eight mile community on the George Price Highway. The purpose is to promote the different micro-entrepreneurs and local products of Belize and to stimulate different activities in rural areas of Belize. Interestingly, it is being done in collaboration with the village day and Chamber’s Viannie Reyes says all booths have been sold out.

“We are looking forward to a very successful weekend. And it is not only for the deals, but it is a learning experience. And also to support the micro-entrepreneurs because at the end of the day, they are the future of tomorrow. I mean there are a lot of different businesses that we don’t know about in the different villages and tomorrow will be the day to get to know them and engage with them and see what they have to offer.”

“Now we know that there are major companies that will be out there like Grace Kennedy. But are some of the businesses that will be participated from the village?”

Viannie Reyes

“Yes we do have couple from the village itself and we have the different larger businesses such as Smart, we have DFC, NEMO, RFG Insurance, Grace. So we are looking to…the bigger businesses are helping gathering that crowd to come out and support the smaller businesses. So it is a member and non-member expo.”

Entrance fee to the expo is five dollars for adults and children get in for free. A bus leaves the Pound Yard Bridge in the City every thirty minutes; transportation is free.
