Employee avoids jewellery store hold-up
It could have ended in bloodshed, as so many hold-ups do these days. But today quick thinking may have saved a man’s life as a concerned witness and quick response by police resulted in arrests. Around nine-twenty this morning there was a single worker behind the counter at Nancy’s Jewellery Store on Cemetery Road when two armed men entered the establishment. The worker, who does not wish to be identified or appear on camera, told News 5 that he told the man holding the gun to his head that he knew him well. He believes this is what spooked the men and they ran out of the store. However, someone on the street who saw what was happening quickly called the police and within moments they arrived and pursued the suspects to Amara Avenue. Tonight both individuals are in police lock-up pending charges.
