Calming of Conch Shell Bay continues

Back in late January, the Conch Shell Bay neighborhood was wracked by a spate of fatal shootings which prompted the police department to establish a permanent presence in the area.  The feud was attributed to a deadly turf war among rivals within that community.  Since then there has been a number of initiatives being undertaken to mitigate crime in Conch Shell Bay, including interventions led by Area Representative Tracy Panton and A.C.P. Williams.  According to the Commander of Eastern Division South, they are optimistic that peace will be maintained.

“When you are dealing with tensions and especially with concerned persons who are grieving, people who are hurt, it is always difficult to diffuse those sorts of tensions.  But we have been able to come into the area with the assistance of Mrs. Panton who is the area representative and we have dialogued with the people.  We have put in place a police patrol within the area as well to see how we can mitigate the situation that was occurring within the Conch Shell Bay area and I am very grateful to see that the outcome of our efforts is very fruitful in the sense that the crime situation has ease down significantly since we did those things that we put in place.”

“Well, we are hopeful that yes it will.  We remain in dialogue with the people concerned and, like I said, healing is a process and we do not expect that we’ll get that outcome immediately but we’re getting some direct outcome and we want to build on what we are doing to ensure that the peace continues within the area.”
