Hotel Association has new home
The Belize Hotel Association is out of the closet. Hey, they said it…not us. It seems the B.H.A. has been bouncing from holes in the wall to borrowed space and back again for years. But after all that torture and torment, they now have a new home. According to the association’s President, Ben Routi, their new location will help members get where they need to go…right to their customers.

“We’ve worked out of the basement of four Forth Street, we’ve worked out of bedrooms. We need a permanent office to offer stability and presence to our membership. And since many of our members have to fly in from the outside areas, this is an outstanding location for us right here at Municipal Airport.”
“The travel industry is changing, it’s not so much perhaps travel-agent driven as it is website driven. We have to reinvent marketing trends. We’ve got tow new programmes for our hotels that we’re kicking off this month. One is an eight-hundred-number service where they will have phone calls coming in from the United States and Canada for reservations, and the other an online hotel reservation system. And both will offer a certain amount of sustainability to help the association and offer services and marketing to our members in this new atmosphere of growth and development in the tourist business.”
There are approximately four hundred and eighty hotel properties throughout Belize.
