All is Well as Police Meet and Greet on Southside Beat

Today, the Police Department carried out its weekly meet and greet on the north and south sides of the city. We went to Antelope Street Extension area where we caught up with Regional Commander, ACP Chester Williams engaging with residents. Williams told us that residents were generally satisfied with the level of community policing.

ACP Chester Williams, Regional Commander, Eastern Division South

“Earlier in the year, the Extension area was a hot bed and since then we had put in place additional patrols including a check point and that seems to be working. The patrols have been working in between two vehicular patrols and checkpoint to ensure that we prevent loitering and public drinking, as well persons who may be frequenting the area to create mischief. So, what we have done working in collaboration with the committee itself is working and we will continue those initiatives itself that we have put in place in this area.”

“We notice that in the last couple of days we haven’t had any major violent incident; what are the residents saying about this [gang] truce?”

ACP Chester Williams

“Well the residents are quite positive about it. We do have residents in this area who are a part of what we are doing trying to see how we can calm down the crime situation in the city.  We know a long weekend is coming up this weekend again. We will be meeting again with the guys to see if we can arrive at a pact to ensure that the peace continue within the city.”
