T-shirt band welcomes all for carnival
If you would like to take part in this year’s carnival road march but without the pressure of dealing with costumes or competition, then we just might have what you are looking for. B.T.L.’s Telejammers have re-emerged after a three-year hiatus from the annual festivity. According to the T-shirt band coordinator, Sherilyn Waight, because there will be only two senior bands in the competition, they are hoping that quite a large number of adults will take advantage of the opportunity to join in. After all, Waight says the band is simply for anyone who just wants to jump up and have a good time.

“We did this in 2000 when we brought out the B.T.L. Telejammers and it was a huge success. The public took kindly to it and since then we have had a lot of people asking when we will do this again. And we’ve toyed with the idea for some years, and since we noticed that this year the carnival spirit seemed to have died down a little?yes it’s short notice?but we decided why not, why not get the public back into the carnival spirit by joining a T-shirt band. It’s only ten dollars per shirt, and we know that a lot of people who want to be in carnival, who maybe cannot afford one of the big costumes, would want to join the band. It’s really keeping the carnival spirit alive. As I said, when we did it in 2000 it was a tremendous success and we know that this year even though it’s a short space of time we will have the same success that we had back then.”

“We’re keeping the same theme from three years ago, no competition, no dance steps, no costumes, just for fun. So it’s just a T-shirt and you come in and you jump up, have some fun.”
