Man Convicted of Dangriga Rape
There is a rape conviction to report tonight. In January 2015, a Dangriga man met a woman walking on the road side heading into the town to pick up a package. He offered her a ride to the Benguche area, but things went awfully wrong. The woman said she thought the vehicle hit something so the Good Samaritan exited the vehicle and was soon held at gunpoint by two intruders. The duo was abducted and the attackers forced the driver to take them to the Dangriga Cemetery where the victims were tied up. But the man managed to free himself and escaped, leaving the woman to fight for her freedom. One of the attackers armed with a gun, went in pursuit of him while the other, carrying a knife, stayed behind and raped her. After the heinous act, he fled in the vehicle. The woman later managed to free herself and went to the cops. The police apprehended the alleged rapist, Robert Taylor. In the Dangriga Supreme Court, Taylor was found guilty of one count of abduction and one count of rape by a jury on April tenth. He was sentenced this Wednesday to two twelve-year sentences to run concurrently by Justice Denis Hanomansingh.
