Curlette Johnson, Deputy Director, Banking & Currency Department
“The Central Bank is conducting their ‘know your money’ sessions today and we have two sessions; the morning session that we recently completed. And the objective of the presentation is to inform the public what are the genuine feature of a bank note so that they are able to distinguish what are the genuine notes and a counterfeit note. This is important because we would not want the circulation of counterfeit note to be going around because the public will lose value for goods and services that they are providing. So, that is the basic reason we are here today.”

“Why are the security features important?”
Barnaby Dicks, Regional Manager, De La Rue International Limited
“So, when you are creating a security document it is very important that you have a layered security, so therefore it makes it harder for counterfeiters to replicate. And by adding different types of security features in from different processes – from the production processes will enable the product or the document to be more secure.”

“The session today was for financial institutions, the public sector, the media. And then this afternoon we also have a second session for those who couldn’t make it this morning, they can make it in the afternoon. And then tomorrow, we have law enforcement, we have public, we have students and we also have some staff that are new to the Central Bank.”
