New C.E.O. of B.T.L. Introduced
There’s a new Chief Executive Officer in the driver’s seat at the government-controlled Belize Telemedia Limited replacing the prime Minister’s son Anwar Barrow. Rochus Schreiber, a career professional in the telecoms sector, was officially introduced to the country this morning, during a press conference held at the company’s headquarters on Saint Thomas Street. While he came onboard on April fifth, Schreiber appointment is at a critical time for the utility provider since it is transitioning from its technical infrastructure. B.T.L. Chairman, Nestor Vasquez, made the formal presentation earlier today.
Nestor Vasquez, Chairman, B.T.L.
“I am pleased to say, as Chairman of B.T.L., that we have, as you would recall, facilitated the transition of our operational leadership of the company in a way that has been transparent and competitive, which is consistent with the practices of any commercially and competitive telecoms operator anywhere in the world. Mr. Schreiber joins the company at a very critical time because we are in the middle of a transformation of our technical infrastructure and of our commercial applications. We are putting in place a foundation to deliver for Belizeans throughout the entire country, a world class mobile telephony and broadband services. As I have mentioned before, the success of B.T.L. in delivering these modern services will translate into the success of the country of Belize, both economically and socially. I am confident that with the energy and passion with which Rochus will continue the path to what we call Destination Greatness, he will be building on the tremendous work and accomplishments of his predecessor, Director Anwar Barrow. I thank you all for joining us today and I take pleasure in introducing my friend Rochus Schreiber as the new C.E.O. of Belize Telemedia.”
Schreiber has held senior positions in the areas of telecommunications, broadband and cable TV.
