Cop to be charged in McDonald’s death

Story Picture
The Police Department’s reputation is going to take another serious hit this week as sources have confirmed that as early as tomorrow another police officer will be charged in connection with the death of a young man in mid-June of this year. While the name of the officer is being withheld until charges are officially filed, News 5 understands that based on the evidence at hand, the officer will be charged with manslaughter, or in the alternate, manslaughter by negligence. The Office of the D.P.P. is confident that it can prove that in the very least the officer in question was reckless in firing his weapon on the night of June fourteenth, which resulted in the death of twenty-eighth year old Darnel McDonald. McDonald was leaving Celina’s Bar in Ladyville just as police and partygoers clashed after the cops detained another young man from the club. Police alleged that shots were fired from the crowd and vehicles travelling behind them, forcing them to return fire. When the commotion ceased, Darnel McDonald had been shot in the neck. McDonald’s two passengers have maintained that they were not among those who were shooting at the police.
