St. Martin’s De Porres Close to Finishing Brother Swift Parish Hall
The Saint Martin De Porres Parish will be getting a brand new hall in the next few weeks. The structure has been under construction adjacent to the Parish – it is worth around eight hundred thousand dollars and is expected to be used as a source of revenue for the Parish. Today, Father Matt Ruhl gave some details on this project and how it will serve the community.
Father Matt Ruhl, St. Martin De Porres Parish
“The structure is called Swift Hall; Brother Swift Hall – names after Brother Carl Swift and the funding is coming from local monies and monies primarily from Kansas City, Missouri and St. Louis, Missouri. They are all associated with the Jesuits; all Jesuits colleagues and friends of St. Louis University, St. Martin’s and St. John’s College. And already it is not even done and I have more requests for the use of that. So, it will be primarily a place of recreation for the people of the neighborhood; for our school; for our Parish; but then it also becomes a place where we can have civic meetings, graduations, and funeral repasts and wedding receptions.”

“So, it will be like a source of revenue for the school or the Parish as well?”
“Yes. It will definitely be a source of revenue, yes.”

Father Matt Ruhl
“Cisco Construction is saying that by the end of May we will be very, very close. So, fingers crossed, end of May.”
