Gunman fires at B.D.F./Police patrol on Kraal Rd.
It is not yet clear if the incidents are related, but there were two shootings on Kraal Road and another on Mahogany Street in Belize City on Saturday night. Two men, Godfrey Rowland and Albert Chapparo, wound up in the hospital after a man on a bicycle rode by and shot at them while they were standing on Kraal Road. Chapparo was shot in both legs, while Rowland had a single shot to his right arm.
That same evening around six o’clock, a joint B.D.F./Police patrol on Kraal Road reported that a man on a bike pulled out a gun and pointed it at them. Police Constable Delmar Moguel reports he took out his revolver and fired a shot, resulting in an exchange of gunfire between the lone gunman and several of the patrol members. No one was injured and the man fled the scene.
A short while later in another incident, this time on Mahogany Street, Ernie Fermin was riding his bike when he heard three shots ring out and realized he had been hit in the buttocks. He told police he could not tell what direction the shots came from.
