PLUS TV’s Louis Wade to Cayo Court for Assault

Pastor, host of Rise and Shine and owner/manager of PLUS TV in Belmopan, Louis Wade, confirmed to News Five this evening before news time that he has been summoned to San Ignacio Town police station on Friday. He is expected to be arraigned on two charges of assault and using indecent words for an incident dating back to November of 2016. Wade told us he would hold off on comment until after he has been charged and processed on Friday. However, it is alleged that the report made against Wade is false. According to Wade, six months ago he received a call from Cayo that the Ministry of Works was completing the contract on the Santa Elena Sports Complex. Wade arrived to find Ministry equipment working for the contractor on the project. Someone called the son of the Minister Rene Montero, one Robert Montero, who Wade alleges drove his red pickup truck at him under high speed, forcing Wade to jump out of the way, then positioned it to block him from further shooting or from coming out of the stadium. Wade said he intended to file a police report after making his images public on his show, Rise and Shine, but Montero was tipped off and reported that he was assaulted by Wade. Wade makes several allegations that police failed to properly investigate the case, waited until the end of the statute bar to charge him, and that there was interference by the officer in charge to satisfy Montero’s report.  According to Wade, police concluded that a falsely reported incident which he says never happened, actually happened – an incident that was his journalistic work. Already police have said that while they will issue a written statement after charges are laid, they will refuse an interview on the basis that the incident is a misdemeanour and a ‘minor’ and ‘frivolous’ matter and it would set bad precedent to do so.
