Precision Dancers Take Bliss Stage
A dance show, the second of its kind by a young company, will be on display at the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts. Precision and Style Dance Company is the brainchild of Crysel Gabourel-Baptist, who is a former senior dancer with the Belize National Dance Company. It starts on Saturday at seven p.m. with performances from the intermediate and adult members of the company in genres such as modern, Latin, African, folklore and hip hop. Today, Gabourel-Baptist came to News Five’s studio to invite the public to a showcase of the diversity of dance in Belize.

“Diverse as oppose to just ballet or just folk or just hip hop. And on Sunday, you will see the same four genres but with the babies, the beginners and the juniors. We are having our second show. The first show we had, we started in January and we had a show in May; we had a shorter time to prepare, but it was a great show. Now this year we are topping it and we had a year to really prepare for it. There are many people who are interested in dancing, but not all of them are built for each style of dance. So you might find that some are more prone to be ballet dancers because they are more graceful. Some of them are more rough and rigged and turn to hip hop and then there are the Latin dancers and they don’t really have an outlet in the city. Also African, we have to keep it with our roots and we try yo keep everybody rounded. So a well rounded dancer, you will find they adopt more.”
Tickets are available at the Bliss ticket booth for twenty dollars and fifteen dollars; children enter for ten dollars. Tune in on Open Your Eyes on Friday morning for a live performance by Precision and Style Dance Company.
