Escaped convict remains elusive
Prison officials say they have still not been able to capture inmate Roberto Yatxol, who escaped in late June while on a work programme near Flower’s Bank in the Belize District. Yatxol, who was serving a twenty-five year to life sentence for manslaughter, is believed to still be hiding out in the nearby village of St. Paul’s Bank. According to prison officials, although Yatxol may be recovering from a gunshot wound he received during an attempt to catch him; they strongly suspect he is being aided by several villagers. The officials say they have been working with residents of the area to come up with a plan to finally corral the dangerous inmate. The last time Yatxol was seen was last week in Willow’s Bank Village.
