San Pedro Town Welcomes New Ambergris Stadium
A state-of-the-art stadium was officially inaugurated on San Pedro on Sunday. The four point four million-dollar facility was constructed through funding from the Belize Infrastructure Limited, along with the San Pedro Town Council and executed by A.M. Construction Company from the Orange Walk District. Mayor Daniel Guerrero says that sport enthusiasts now have a venue for football matches.
Daniel Guerrero, Mayor, San Pedro Town
“It was a very exciting moment seeing top of the art synthetic turf, the artificial grass…beautifully well done. The entire complex with the parking, the booths, the restroom for the females and the males, the bars and the sections for the food court, the bleachers and VIP rooms. We have a room only for the media houses so it is an excellent thing with the beautiful lighting. It’s very expensive but it is well worth it. The San Pedro Football Club, Pirates, they really had fun. We had the veterans, we had the high school, we had some females and the under ten also were there. It was a very good turnout and people are actually happy. I can say that people will put a lot of good use to that complex. We need to make sure that the enthusiasts, the athletes, the people playing football really discipline themselves. We need to abide by the rules and regulations of that complex because it is a beautiful area, but we need to take care of it.”
