Two dead, two injured in road accidents
Two people are dead tonight and two more have been injured, the victims of road accidents in Cayo and Belize City. The first happened around five o’clock on Sunday morning when sixty-two year old Oliver Wade was knocked down as he rode his bike across the Belcan Bridge. Police say the man was hit by a van being driven by thirty-nine year old Erneldo Cruz. Wade was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital by the same vehicle that knocked him down. He is tonight listed in a serious condition and the operator of the van has been slapped with charges of driving without due care and attention and grievous harm.
Seven hours later, this time between miles seventy-two and seventy-three on the Western Highway, thirty-two year old Alfonso Ford of Camalote and thirty-six year old Nazim Alfaro of Succotz were killed when their vehicle collided into a lamppost and overturned. Thirty-two year old Jose Luis Panti, the third occupant in Ford’s Isuzu Trooper, suffered a broken right foot, broken ribs and a broken collarbone. He is in stable condition at the San Ignacio Hospital.
