Fire Service gets four trucks with right hand steering
The National Fire Service has obtained eight new fire trucks from the United Kingdom, but they may prove to be troublesome. The trucks, purchased for a hefty price of almost four-hundred and fifteen thousand dollars, are all built for right-hand driving, unlike the overwhelming number of vehicles for left hand driving in Belize. While we hope the drivers won’t flip out over the change, Minister Hulse may need to quell some fires over the issue at the department very soon. The trucks were imported in order to further the government’s expansion program for the National Fire Service. Four of the trucks were very carefully driven on the right side of the road by the right hand drivers to Belize City today, and the remaining four will be driven to various other areas of the country later in the week.
