Bus depot held-up by lone gunman
An undisclosed amount of money was stolen Sunday night during a hold-up at the Novelo’s Bus terminal. Authorities believe the robber may have been watching the place for a while and waited for the last bus to pull in before he made his move. That bus from Chetumal came in around ten last night, the passengers disembarked and the conductor handed over the day’s sales to the cashier, twenty-two year old Cesar Landero. Landero and the conductor then went into an office to secure the money and the ticket stubs. Landero told police that’s when an armed man entered and ordered the conductor to tie him up. The assailant then stole all the cash and receipts and ran out of the building. Police may have had initial doubts about the employees’ story, but after being detained for questioning, both men were released this evening. According to Novelo’s, they are still doing their own investigation to find out how the robber could have circumvented their security system and just how much money was stolen.
