Barber is latest Lotto winner

Story Picture
Thirty-eight year old Alfred Richards may have taken his time to claim his prize, but after a day to think about it, the well-known southside barber could not hold back anymore. This afternoon he walked into the offices of Tropical Gaming Company to collect his winnings of one hundred and twelve thousand, five hundred dollars. Richards, who was very reluctant to appear on camera, says although he had dropped out of the game for a while, he always believed that one day he would be lucky. Wednesday was that day and it took him only ten dollars worth of quick pick to strike gold. Richards says after the night of the draw he asked several people what numbers had played, but no one really paid him any mind.

“I work everyday and I would just buy it and wrap it up and left it on my shelf, and then I come in at night after seven o’clock at night from my work and my girlfriend told me that someone win the Lotto. I was asking what play on the Lotto and no one answered, they just ignored me, so I went to the Lotto shop and get the number and I match it with my ticket.”

“Now you will be taking home over ninety-five thousand dollars, do you plan to expand on your present business?”

Alfred Richards

“Yes ma’am.”

Jacqueline Woods

“Well I know it won’t take you all of ninety-five thousand dollars to expand on a barber shop, so what you plan to do with the remainder?”

Alfred Richards

“A fixed deposit and leave it in the bank.”

Richards, who owns Wiley Exotic Barbering, takes home ninety-five thousand, six hundred and twenty-five dollars after government takes its fifteen percent in tax. And in case you are wondering, no, no one has yet claimed the bonus draw held last Saturday. The numbers in that twenty-five thousand dollar draw are two, six, nine, fifteen and twenty-four.
