Judy Boucher is Back for the Grown People

Judy Boucher

Vincentian-born R and B and reggae singer Judy Boucher says she considers Belize a second home, having come here regularly for concerts in the last few years. The author of top ten hits including her signature tune, “Can’t Be With You Tonight,” is back again this week for a “Mature People’s Concert” on this coming Father’s Day weekend in Dangriga, making up for a prior date she missed here earlier this year. Boucher stopped by News Five with her promoter to give us details.

Judy Boucher, Singer

“It’s probably coming up to my fourth or fifth time in Belize; I’ve always had fun; the concerts are always very well-attended; it’s a place I love very much and I’m just happy to be back again.”

“So this concert on the Father’s Day weekend, where will it be held and you’re the headline performer I believe?”

Judy Boucher

“Yes! It will be in Dangriga, I believe it will be at the Zabaneh Estate, as far as I know, in Dangriga on the seventeenth of June.”

“Your speciality is R and B, soul, easy listening, that kind of thing and there are, of course, many selections by you that your audience loves and enjoys – you think they will be asking for any particular favourites?”

Judy Boucher

“Yes, they usually do; they usually ask me for all my songs which is not possible. So I would some songs – it’s unfortunate that your selection is not [available] at this time, it will be the next time. But they seem to want me to sing all the songs I have recorded, I don’t think that they have realize that I have recorded over five hundred songs! Hey, come on; be realistic.”

The concert kicks off at nine p.m. on Saturday with tickets costing fifty dollars regular admission, sixty at the door, and one hundred and fifty for VIP seating. Gilharry 7 Band will be backing Boucher and there will be additional entertainment from the Wagierale Drummers and DJ’s Lindy D and Anthony Grant.
