Shooting a Result of Robbery; One Held, One Sought
Assistant Commissioner of Police Chester Williams spoke briefly about the shooting incident involving twenty-four-year-old Wasani Avila. According to the Officer Commanding Eastern Division South, the motive for the attack on Avila and his friend may have been robbery.

“Sometime after seven-thirty last night or thereabout, police were called to the far end of Jasmine Street, towards the riverside, where upon arrival a male person, Wasani Avila, was seen with gunshot wounds to the back and arm. He was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was taken for treatment and was released this morning from the hospital around six o’clock a.m. He is currently at home doing well recovering. The injuries were not life threatening and we’re hoping for a full recovery. From our investigation so far the motive appeared to have been a robbery and we have one person in custody and we’re looking for another individual in respect to that particular incident.”
