A preview of KTV The Remix with William Neal

February twentieth, 2001. Channel Five has had many popular entertainment shows and introduced no shortage of top talent to our Belizean viewers over the years, but it all started here with the first episode of “Karaoke Television” or KTV. Sixteen years later, it’s back, older and wiser – and we don’t just mean host William Neal. He tells us about returning to the helm of KTV and why contestants can look forward to a tough but grand time on stage tonight. In tonight’s show you will meet the hopefuls of KTV – The Remix. “To be back with KTV is almost like a blast from the past, a ‘Back to the Future’ kind of thing. KTV was always something – I love live shows, first of all, let me just put that there; I love live shows simply because the interaction with the audience and the artist on any given night – it’s so random, you never know what to expect. What I particularly like is that people may be very quiet and unassuming and then they get in the Bliss, on the stage in front of everybody, and you see the transformation of an individual. A lot of the people who are well-known came through KTV, and I think more than anything else it offers an opportunity for somebody to have really have a testing ground. For the contestants you have to treat every performance like it is your last and that you Are going to go all out. You don’t get a second chance to impress people so every time you come to the stage it has to be like a first and last performance at the same time. That can be nerve racking because you have to do it in a way where you are trying to outdo yourself on a weekly basis. But you have to be honest, you have to be yourself and you have to be gracious because people will meet you and tell you things that you may not be prepared to hear. And there are some that we will accept when it is positive of course but you can’t let it over inflate your ego that you can’t and become a diva or a divo or whatever. But you have to make sure that you are true to your craft and that you are in it because you love it. And you want to entertain people. Because that is what it is all about. It is an entertainment show because it is all about the audience and getting the feedback. And as any artist will tell you it’s all about acceptance at the end of the day. And when you are doing a live performance, it is all about the applause.”
