Angolan refugee killed in Belmopan
A refugee from Africa has been murdered in the nation’s capital. Alfonso Lufa, a twenty-nine year old Angolan, had been living in Belize for three years and has been accorded refugee status. Lufa had been living at a house used for refugees in the Salvapan area of Belmopan and that is where he met his death. According to police, they were called out to the area around eleven Saturday night where in front of his home they found a badly injured Lufa suffering from machete wounds to the head and body. He later died shortly after arrival at Belmopan hospital, but not before giving police the name of a man he claimed to have been involved in the attack. Two suspects have been detained by police.
