Gian Espadas Caught with 12 Pounds of Marijuana

Twenty-two-year-old Gian Espadas flew under the radar last week when close friends Jafari and Wasani Castro made headlines for a weekend escapade that involved an unlicensed vehicle, as well as a significant haul of contraband beer.  Espadas’ name surfaced with the Customs and Excise Department following the seizure of the illegal booze, but was overshadowed by the prominence of his well-connected friends.  Tonight, he is in the news after being busted with almost twelve pounds of compressed marijuana.  This morning, MIT personnel descended on Espadas in the West Landivar area, as he drove a gold Kia Spectra through that neighborhood.  When he was intercepted and pulled over, the Mobile Interdiction Team conducted a search of his vehicle and discovered a whopping five thousand, four hundred and forty grams of weed on the floor.  The wholesale quantity of drug was concealed inside a large black plastic bag on the passenger side of the Kia.  Espadas and his vehicle were both escorted to the Queen Street Police Station where he was arrested and charged for drug trafficking.
