Two sought in San Pedro homicide
San Pedro police are looking for two suspects who held up an American couple inside their home and killed one of their local friends. The drama unfolded around eleven on Tuesday night. Two men wearing nylon stockings over their faces went through a window and entered the home of Daniel and Sarah Lekas, located three miles north of the town on Ambergris Caye. Lekas told authorities that he and his wife were awakened by the assailants, who pointed a gun at them and ordered the couple to lie on the floor. The men then asked Lekas where the money was. Lekas told the police that he had no idea what the men were talking about. It was at that time Lekas says their friends Kenneth and Garson Swazo, who were sleeping in another bedroom, entered the living room after hearing the commotion. Police say an argument soon started between the Swazo brothers and the intruders. That’s when one of the men aimed his gun at Kenneth Swazo’s head and pulled the trigger. Kenneth was rushed to the San Pedro Clinic, but died on the way. According to police, one of the Swazo brothers worked as a handyman at the residence.
