T.S. Claudette poses no threat to Belize
Tropical storm Claudette poses little or not threat to Belize…that’s the official word from the National Emergency Management Organization. Through a government press release, however, NEMO says that Claudette is still in the area and the preliminary phase issued on Wednesday for Belize remains in effect. The tropical storm has maintained its northwestward track with maximum sustained winds at seventy miles an hour, barrelling towards the Yucatan Peninsula at an estimated fourteen miles an hour. The centre of the storm was located near latitude eighteen point six degrees north and longitude eighty-four point two degrees west. NEMO branches in San Pedro, Caye Caulker, Orange and Corozal remain in constant communication with headquarters in Belmopan, but at this time there are no orders for the evacuation of coastal settlements.
