UB to host reading/writing workshop for students
This summer standard four, five and six students are invited to be part of an innovative workshop hosted by the University of Belize. The workshop’s aim is to address student’s reading and writing skills, and encourage interest in both subjects. According to the coordinator Sharon Palacio, the program is designed so that participants will get the most out of the activities.
Sharon Palacio, Coordinator, Book Writing Workshop
“We’ve structured four days of activities and the activities are divided into four. We have poetry, story writing, we have what we call an apiera, whereby you write your story on a piece of cloth and arts and crafts. So at the end, these children will come up with, we’re calling it a journal. They’re gonna write different things that they’ve seen, that they’re heard, in their journals and these journals will be displayed under a heading that we’ve termed “A Hundred Languages of Children”.
The workshop takes place in at the U.B. campus in Belmopan from July fifteenth to the eighteenth and costs one hundred and eight dollars. Palacio says that if parents cannot afford the price, scholarships are being provided. If you need more information on the workshop kindly contact Palacio at telephone numbers 822-3680 or 822-3681.
