Briceño Commends Chebat, Lizarraga
Senior Counsel Michel Chebat, attorney-at-law, is standing in for the incumbent P.U.P. representative on the Senate Special Select Committee, Eamon Courtenay. Wednesday’s attacks on Chebat and Senator for the Business Community Mark Lizarraga by Minister Edmond Castro went even further. Castro openly mocked Chebat’s political pedigree and accused him of wrongdoing concerning use of public utilities at his constituency office. He also brought up an allegation of sexual assault on Lizarraga that was dismissed at court, unlike the Minister’s own case against Alvarine Burgess for defamation of character. P.U.P. Leader John Briceño stood up for his representative when we spoke to him today.
John Briceño, Leader, P.U.P.
“I think it was rude of them to be able to make those attacks; it was obvious that they were trying to intimidate the Senators; but both Senators are not intimidated by these two gentlemen; they are there to do their job. And I think they have been doing a very good job: both Senator Lizarraga and Senator Chebat have been doing a good job and have been drilling them to get to the bottom of the truth, when we have seen the rank corruption that has started from the very top to the very bottom of the U.D.P. Government.”
